The University of Warsaw is one of the leading universities in Poland. Researchers participate in more than 1,300 projects funded by national or international research programs. About the project

The three and a half year research project, People, places and events (PPE) develops new approaches to conducting research in historical geography using graphical databases. The project will produce a toolkit to support interpretative analytical research and a second toolkit to create interactive visualizations. An active education program with a broad reach is at the heart of the interdisciplinary research group leading the project.

The Europeana Research Grant supported the organization of a workshop for cultural heritage institutions and researchers working with spatial data in the human sciences. Workshop participants worked on the preparation of the “Warsaw Declaration”, a document that aims to provide key points to consider in the development of spatial and human data of cultural heritage. The preliminary and final versions were made available as workshop proceedings on ‘Atlas Fontium‘, the digital platform of the Polish Academy of Sciences – Institute of History | PAN, who participated in the organization of the workshop.
