Apple iPhone supports HomeKit which is the company’s own application allowing central control of all smart home devices. Although the app is very useful, it does not currently support all platforms and for some devices users have to rely on third-party apps for control and access.
For example, if you have a Smart TV with Google TV as the operating system, you must use the company’s own application to control the device. Currently, most features are limited to Android devices, but the search engine giant offers a remote control app on iOS to allow iPhone users to control the TV.
In this step-by-step guide, we’ll show you how to quickly connect or pair your Google TV with Apple’s iPhone for easier device control.
How to control Google TV with Apple iPhone
Step 1: Open the Google TV app on your Apple iPhone. If you haven’t installed the app, install it from the app store and then open it.
2nd step: When the app opens, tap the “TV Remote” button located in the lower right corner.
Step 3: Select the TV you want to control using the Apple iPhone when it asks you in a prompt.
Step 4: Enter the pairing code into the app that appears on the TV screen.
Step 5: After entering the pairing code on the app, press the “Pair” button.
That’s it. Once you have followed the step-by-step guide mentioned above, you have successfully paired your Smart TV running Google TV operating system with your Apple iPhone and now it can be easily controlled using the phone.
Once the devices are paired, the phone acts as a digital remote and offers around two-thirds of the screen as a trackpad that can be used to swipe in any direction to navigate the TV interface.
There are a few buttons below the trackpad, such as Back, Home, Google Assistant, and volume control buttons at the bottom of the screen. To make it easier to type words while searching for something on the TV, you can use the keyboard function of the Google TV app by tapping the icon in the upper right corner.
