Wag Pet Care platform begins accepting Dogecoin as payment for services

Cryptocurrencies have sparked constant curiosity among investors. Despite a recent stock market crash and crackdown by authorities in some countries, they are gaining acceptance among companies eyeing the huge market base of rapidly growing digital coin users. Wag, an American pet care services company, has now decided to jump on the bandwagon and accept Dogecoin as a payment method through BitPay. He said parents of pets can use the cryptocurrency to purchase credits, which can be used to pay for on-demand dog walks, night care, pet training, veterinary advice and any other service offered through its application.

Pet care service businesses were hit hard during the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, as most people stayed home or decided to walk their pets on their own. Thus, these companies quickly moved to a more sustainable business model. They deployed digital payments technology and began to focus more on online delivery and support.

In a tweet, Wag! Revealed the “big news” and added that they “will now accept Dogecoin using @BitPay”.

The company also said it has also decided to donate a portion of the proceeds from each cryptocurrency transaction to environmental carbon offsetting efforts, “in keeping with the DOGE community motto at #DoOnlyGoodEveryday “. On its official website, Wag! said pet parents can “buy Wag!” credits with Dogecoin ”, and added that“ a tree is planted with every purchase ”.

At the time of writing this article, the Dogecoin price in India stood at Rs. 19.1.

Stir! CEO Garrett Smallwood said they are very happy to have integrated cryptocurrency into their platform and to make it easier for people to pay as they please. “Also, how could we not accept Dogecoin as a payment method? Smallwood added in a statement.

The company said it has found that there is a clear demand for this form of payment after months of working with the cryptocurrency community on social media.

Welcome Wag! to the world of cryptocurrencies, BitPay tweeted that “Pet parents can use cryptocurrency to buy @WagWalking, including #dogecoin of course!

Sonny Singh, Commercial Director of BitPay, said as cryptocurrency increasingly becomes “a preferred form of payment,” companies like Wag !, realize its importance, and added that “Wag! will benefit greatly from enabling its users to participate in the future of payments through a consumer-driven initiative.
