Zeeland woman uses social media to share and spread kindness

ZEELAND, Mich. (WOOD) — A content creator from Zealand uses her social media platform to achieve a goal and spread kindness in the community.

Selena Norinh, 24, is one month into a very exciting journey. She has her eyes set on a Tesla but goes about it in a very untraditional way.

“There’s a TikTokker I know who’s done it before. He traded a small container of sand to a Tesla and it took him eight months,” she said. “Originally , i said i could do it, but we will do it in less time. I have now put aside the goal and it will take as long as it takes. I will give it the grace of God and go there.

Norinh started with an orbee, a small ball of water, and posted a message on Facebook Market Place about wanting to trade it for something else.

A woman from Kalamazoo saw the post and gave up a blue scooter in exchange for Norinh’s orbee and her aim just took off from there.

“I live in Zeeland so I had to drive 45 minutes, an hour to get this, but I was like, ‘This is the first exchange, let’s go full throttle,'” Norinh said.

Norinh found someone else to trade the scooter with and received a Liv Flourish bike, which costs over $500.

Selena then found another willing trader through a Facebook group called Holland Informed. This time the traders were a woman and her husband in Allegan.

“She saw the message and immediately called me and said, ‘What can we do, is there anything we can give her? I said, “We have the Mazda,” said William Tange.

William Tange, left, gave Selena Norinh, right, a Mazda in exchange for a Liv Flourish bike.

Tange met Norinh last week to swap the Mazda 3 for the bike. He says the car could sell for around $1,400.

That’s a lot of money, but for the Tange family and other traders, it’s not what they give up that matters, it’s who they give it to.

“Everything she posts is so uplifting and fun. It’s something you don’t see every day, so supporting her and helping her achieve her goal makes us feel a little better. It makes her feel a little better and if she can make someone else feel a little better, then OK,” Tange said.

Now Norinh is looking for the next trade. She says she would love to achieve her goal, she is just here to shed some light in a dark world.

“It’s been so much fun. I love getting to know new people. Getting to know people from all over the state is going to be so interesting and imagine if it goes even further and takes us to different states,” Norinh said “I’m so willing to go the distance and meet people along the way.”

Norinh hasn’t decided what she’ll do with the car yet, although she thinks she’ll give it away.

If you want to be part of the journey, you can follow Norinh on ICT Tac, instagram and Youtube.
